Screen effects

The finishing layer: scanlines, halftone dots, a star field and light caustics. Cheap, familiar, and the fastest way to make a flat artboard feel like it is on a screen, on paper, or under water.

Scanlines

A sine across the rows plus a slow bright bar rolling down. Instant CRT.

Halftone

A dot in every cell, sized by the tone underneath. Newspaper print.

Stars

One random point per cell, kept only sometimes, twinkling on a hash.

Caustics

Three overlapping sine fields, summed and raised to a power. Pool floor.
